A woman has been sentenced to 8 years in prison after pleading guilty for manslaughter. Her lover had complained about her listening to Bruce Springsteen.
I do have to agree with the woman when she says: '"I mean, who the hell doesn't like Bruce Springsteen, for God's sake?" she later told arresting police.'

Maybe it was a good thing that I didn't hook up with that girl who liked Coldplay and Green Day last year. God I hate those two bands.

Tonight, I was at a bus stop where there was an advertisement for Jame Blunt's new album All the Lost Souls.

Yeah, that's a bad title. However, until I actually saw this advertisement, I didn't realise the true horror. The album cover is a collage of many photos of Blunt!

I know there have been tie-ins before, between the rock world and the comic world. You can guess that sell-outs KISS who have sold everything including coffins and toilet paper would have comics.

There have been comic biographies too. For example, Van Halen was the focus of this comic, which even includes mention of Brown M&Ms and Diamond Dave's signalling system.

Anyway, I'm only writing this post to slag off. Gerald Way, lead singer of My Chemical Romance has written a comic, The Umbrella Academy. I'm left wondering what does it take to get a comic published these days!

I had been battling the common cold for the last few days.

If I was a deeply spiritual man, perhaps I'd have read the Bible.

If I was half as intelligent as I think I am, I would have finished reading another few chapters of Our Band Could Be Your Life (so far, I've only finished the first chapter, which is on Black Flag and I skipped ahead just to read the chapter on Hüsker Dü).

Instead, I've been mainly sleeping, watching DVDs and playing games on PlayStation 2. While playing on the PS2, I've had my iPod plugged into my stereo and been listening to my entire back catalogs of various bands (or in cases where I didn't own all of the band's CDs, the vast majority of their back catalog).

Against, if I was as intellectual as I like to pretend to be, I'd say that I did this as a great experiment to see how a band's music compared when played together: years of creative art back to back over several hours. However, my iPod plays plays the albums alphabetically. Furthermore, I have a long term goal of having listened to every song on my iPod at least once. Thus I got stuck into some bands that I know I haven't had a play count for every song.

Anyway, I don't have any written notes from all this. I don't have any solid findings. I'm tying typical ramblings. OK?

Collective Soul - Mmm... "The World I Know" is a song I haven't listened to in 5 years. It immediately gave me bad Goo Goo Dolls flashbacks. Upon hearing that collaboration they did with Elton John reminded me of when I gave up on the band. What the hell were they thinking?

Silverchair - I only own their first three albums, which I bought when JB HiFi put them on discount and a friend who liked Lash recommended them. I only made it through one and a half albums before I had to switch it off. Silverchair must have come along at a time when Australia was desperate to lay claim to some homegrown rock (probably this is the same sort of phenomena that swept Killing Heidi up for a brief period of time). People must have been willing to overlook Daniel Johns's inept lyrics because of his age and ability to actually rock. Metaphoric lyrics about living in a cemetary were the worst. At this point, I started to wonder if people used to think that Silverchair was just a shit Aussie Nirvana.

Huey Lewis & The News - I still think these guys are awesome. I can't really justify it. They're very much middle of the road rock. I wonder if an idiot I know who likes John Mayer will be saying things like that in 20 years time... except he's already proclaimed Mayer to be one of the world's greatest singer-songwriters ever and to be a better guitarist then Jimi Hendrix

Lash - I really felt any lingering intellectual objectivity being thrown out the window because I just kept thinking that one of the two lead singers from this band was really quite hot. I'm still not sure why that wasn't enough to keep the band going.

I had been battling the common cold for the last few days.

If I was a deeply spiritual man, perhaps I’d have read the Bible.

If I was half as intelligent as I think I am, I would have finished reading another few chapters of Our Band Could Be Your Life (so far, I’ve only finished the first chapter, which is on Black Flag and I skipped ahead just to read the chapter on Hüsker Dü).

Instead, I’ve been mainly sleeping, watching DVDs and playing games on PlayStation 2. While playing on the PS2, I’ve had my iPod plugged into my stereo and been listening to my entire back catalogs of various bands (or in cases where I didn’t own all of the band’s CDs, the vast majority of their back catalog).

Against, if I was as intellectual as I like to pretend to be, I’d say that I did this as a great experiment to see how a band’s music compared when played together: years of creative art back to back over several hours. However, my iPod plays plays the albums alphabetically. Furthermore, I have a long term goal of having listened to every song on my iPod at least once. Thus I got stuck into some bands that I know I haven’t had a play count for every song.

Don't expect a long post even though this is a topic rich with possibilities.

I've had the cold for two work days and in that time I only managed to watch 5 minutes of Oprah. 5 minutes of pure horror were enough. In that segment, her guests were Michael Bolton and his occassional collaboratory partner, professional songwriter Diane Warren.

They both performed sniplets of their various songs including Bolton's hit "How Can We Be Lovers? and Warren-penned Aerosmith's only hit I Don't Want To Miss A Thing.
